SUMMARY

1. Corroborating history from mother and attempt to take a history from the patient, assess for any precipitating factors.

2. Medication history, illicit drug use.

3. Neuropsychology assessment for cognition and capacity.

4. Refer to adolescent psychologist.

5. If psychiatric issues present, then referral to psychiatrist may be required.

6. Social worker review regarding accommodation and finances.

7. Smoking cessation and counselling.

8. Recruiting patient’s friends and family, establishing therapeutic relationship and guiding patient.
