THORACIC VERTEBRA-ARTICULAR PROCESSES
SUMMARY
1. Peculiar, in that they are arranged in the arc of a circle to allow for rotation: which occurs more so in the thoracic spine
2. The superior articular facet projects from the junction of the pedicle & lamina, it carries an oval articular facet that projects backwards & laterally
3. The inferior articular facet projects from the junction of the pedicle & lamina, it carries an oval articular facet that projects forwards & medially
4. The upper & lower cartilage-covered facets form synovial joints, with capsule & synovial membrane attached to articular margins
