SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS (SLE)-BLOOD

SUMMARY

1. Immune mediated cytopenias are common: lymphopenia, thrombocytopenia, and hemolytic anemia.

2. Headache, thrombocytopenia, microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, acute renal failure in a SLE patient suggests TTP: mortality is high if unrecognized.
