STROKE-SHOULDER PAIN

SUMMARY

1. 70% to 84% of stroke patients with hemiplegia have shoulder pain.

2. 85% develop this during the spastic phase.

3. Most common causes of hemiplegic shoulder pain are CRPS Type I & soft-tissue lesions (including plexus lesions).

4. Note: shoulder pain is more likely due to spasticity than subluxation.
