STROKE-MILD COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT
SUMMARY
1. Part of the Vascular Cognitive Impairment spectrum; intermediate clinical state that is likely to progress to dementia.
2. Definition: when only 1 or more of the domains is in decline & impairment does not significantly impact daily functioning.
3. Divided into amnestic MCI (more common) & non-amnestic MCI.
4. MCI progresses to AD at a rate of about 5-10% per year, more common in amnestic MCI.
