SJOGREN'S SYNDROME-PRESENTATION

SUMMARY

Mucus glands are infiltrated by lymphocytes and plasma cells leading to atrophy and fibrosis.

Presentation:

1. Dry eyes: conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers
2. Dry mouth
3. Chest infection: due to reduced mucus production
4. Kidneys: RTA, nephrogenic DI
5. Genital tract: atrophic vaginitis
6. Pseudolymphoma: lymphadenopathy and splenomegaly which can progress to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
