PAIN-VERTEBROPLASTY CONTRAINDICATIONS

SUMMARY

ABSOLUTE CONTRAINDICATIONS
1. Fracture that is healed or is responding to conservative management.
2. Absence of bone edema or gas cleft on MRI.
3. Presence of untreated coagulopathy.
4. Presence of local infection.

RELATIVE CONTRAINDICATIONS
5. Fracture > 4 months, unless non-union has occurred.
6. Loss of integrity of the anterior wall of the vertebral body.
