SUMMARY

1. Indications: foot-drop, high tone or spasticity in plantar-flexors, gastrocnemius spasticity, medio-lateral instability of the ankle.

2. Contraindications: unstable knee joint, fluctuating oedema, excessive scarring or contractures.

3. Note that the trim lines are anterior to the malleoli. The further forward the trim lines, the more resistant to bending.

4. Can lead to muscle atrophy with prolonged use.
