ORTHOSES-POSTERIOR LEAF SPRING (PLS) AFO

SUMMARY

1. Swing phase: prevents foot drop for foot clearance. Stance phase: permits "spring" at push-off.

2. Indications: foot drop due to weak dorsiflexors with/without mild ML instability of the ankle joint.

3. Contraindications: moderate to severe ankle instability, spasticity, jenu recarvatum, weak plantarflexors.
