ORTHOSES-KAFO KNEE LOCKS

From NeuroRehab.wiki

SUMMARY

1. Ratchet lock.

2. Drop lock.

3. Bail lock: provides the easiest method of simultaneously unlocking the medial and lateral knee joints of a KAFO. Lifting up the bail posteriorly releases the knee joint to permit flexion, allowing the patient to sit down.

4. Dial lock: used to stabilize the knee in varying amounts of flexion, helping prevent progression of a flexion contracture or assisting with the gradual reduction of the contracture.
