MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS-COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT
SUMMARY
1. More prevalent in chronic progressive MS.
2. There is some correlation between plaque load and dementia.
3. Frontal lobe dysfunction is commonly seen: problems with initiation, poor insight and planning.
4. Prefrontal dysfunction may exhibit as inappropriate behaviour, excessive talking and poor judgement.
5. Counselling & cognitive rehabilitation are important to minimise the effect of deficits on ADLs.
