SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL TREMORS
1. Affects 5% of patients over 60yrs; early life-onset or senile-onset; benign; familial (AD inheritance) or sporadic.
2. Posture-maintaining tremor assoc. with sustained muscle contractions or stress.
3. Tremor attenuates with small mount of alcohol. Treatment: propanolol, anti-cholinergics, DBS insertion or surgical thalamotomy.

INTENTION TREMOR
4. Occurs with movement from point to point, often at the end of a purposeful movement.
5. Cerebellar tremor is a common example, minimally treatable, wrist-weights can help.
