SUMMARY

1. Infectious causes: enterovirus, herpes zoster, diphtheria, botulism, West Nile virus

2. Post-infectious cause: Guillain Barre syndrome

3. Non-infectious causes: transverse myelitis, cord infarction, and cord compression; peripheral motor neuropathy may be a feature of acute intermittent porphyria, mononeuritis multiplex, NMJ diseases (myasthenia gravis)
