SUMMARY

1. Benign area of autonomous hyper-functioning thyroid tissue.

2. Check TSH, RAIU, scintigraphy.

3. DDx: Graves disease, thyroiditis, toxic MNG, iatrogenic (thyroxine), excess iodine (amiodarone).

4. Tx with RAI or surgery.

5. Anti-thyroid drugs do not work in the long-term.

6. Percutaneous ethanol injection of nodules is an alternative.
