CORTISOL

1. Stimulate lipolysis, mobilises fat deposits.
2. Release of amino acids from muscles, protein catabolism.
3. Gluconeogenesis from liver, increases serum glucose.
4. Inhibits all stages of the inflammatory process via effect on T cells and their mediators.
5. Decreases bone protein matrix.
6. Excess can stimulate mineralocortocoid + androgen receptors.
