SUMMARY

1. Class I: cardiac disease does not limit physical activity. Patients can perform to completion any activity requiring ≥ 7 METs.
2. Class II: comfortable at rest & slight limitation of physical activity. Patients can perform to completion any activity requiring 5-7 METs.
3. Class III: comfortable at rest & marked limitation of physical activity. Patients can perform to completion any activity requiring 2-5 METs.

4. Class IV: symptoms present at rest & marked limitation of physical activity. Patients can perform to completion any activity requiring < 2 METs.
