GAIT-KNEE DYNAMICS

From NeuroRehab.wiki

SUMMARY

1. Functions: support during stance phase & clears the ground during swing phase.

2. The only time it's maximally extended is during heel strike. It never fully extends.

3. Functions of 90o knee bending: for stairs and getting up from a seated position.

4. Mid-stance: knee flexes to 15o: 20o

5. Toe-off: knee flexes to 30o: 40o

6. Mid-swing: maximum flexion is at 65o and is just prior to mid-swing.

7. There is very little need for the hamstrings to flex the knees during gait.
