SUMMARY

1. The time-dependent accumulation of cellular damage is widely considered the general cause of aging.

2. Frailty is reversible, however once the patient becomes dependent, it is not reverisble.

3. Phenotype with presence of 3/4 components:
A. Unintentional weight loss > 10 lbs in 1 year
B. Weakness: grip strength at the lowest 20% of population as matched by gender & BMI
C. Poor endurance, slow walking speed
D. Decreased physical activity: males < 383 KCal/week, female < 270 KCal/week
