DRIVING-SYNCOPE & FIRST SEIZURE

SUMMARY

1. A person is not fit to hold an unconditional licence if the person has experienced blackouts (of unknown cause) or the first seizure. Specific rules apply to controlled/uncontrolled epilepsy and other variations.

2. A person should not drive for 6 months (for private & commercial licences) following syncope of unknown cause.

3. A person should not drive for 6 months (for private licence) or 5 years without epileptiform activity on EEG (for commercial licence) following the first seizure.
