DORSAL SCAPULAR NERVE

SUMMARY
1. Arises from the C5 root of the brachial plexus.
2. Pierces the scalenus medius and continues deep to the levator scapulae & rhomboids.
3. Supplies the levator scapulae (elevates the scapula) & rhomboids (pull the scapula towards the spine).
4. Accompanied by the dorsal scapular artery.
5. Injury (rare) causes deviation of scapula from the midline and inability to elevate the scapula.
