SUMMARY
PERIPHERAL
1. Labyrinthine (canalicular) lesions: BPPV, motion sickness, acute labyrinthitis, streptomycin toxicity, Menier's disease.
2. Vestibular lesions: vestibular neuronitis, many of the causes of nerve deafness.
CENTRAL
3. Brainstem lesions: tumors of the cerebellum and IV ventricle, demyelination (MS), migraine, vascular lesions.
4. Temporal lobe lesions: complex partial seizures, ischaemia.
