2. Random plasma glucose >= 200 mg/dL with symptoms (polyuria, polydipsia)
3. HbA1c >= 6.5%
4. 2-hr plasma glucose >= 200 mg/dL after a 75 gm OGTTHbA1c can be misleading in certain patient groups: African-Americans, in hemoglobinopathies and thalassemias, patients with iron deficiency or hemolytic anemias, in hepatic/renal diseases.
