SUMMARY
Positive (greater chance of emergence & better functional outcome):
1. TBI
2. < 28 days in DOC
3. Lower age or less comorbidities
4. MCS +
5. Higher rate of change in the Coma Recovery Scale
Negative:
1. Hypoxic/metabolic injury
2. Greater structural injury: DAI/focal injury on MRI
3. Prolonged UWS or MCS -ve
4. Chronic DOC of all types
