ORIGIN & COURSE
1. Passes into the lateral sulcus where its terminal branches form and exit the sulcus
2. Its branches do not reach the superior frontal gyrus or inferior temporal gyrus

SUPPLY
3. Insula cortex and overlying opercula
4. Motor + sensory areas (excluding the lower limbs and perineum)
5. Auditory & speech areas
