SUMMARY

1. Autosomal dominant pattern of inheritance.
2. Characterized by thickened but not dilated left ventricle in the abence of cardiac or systemic conditions.
3. Most common cause of sudden death in young gae (age < 35).
4. present(s) with heart failure, chest pain, syncope, harsh crescendo-decrescendo murmur whcih increases with Valsalva & decreases with sustained hand-grip assoc. with double/triple-tap impulse.
5. Mgm: beta-blockers, disopyramide, IV phenylephinephrine, ICD implantation, septal reduction therapy with intracoronary injection of ethanol, septal myectomy.
