AMPUTEE SELECTION-STUMP EXAMINATION

SUMMARY

1. Stump length: should be at least 1/3 of the normal limb length.

2. Wound: age, site, healed? Usually long posterior flaps for vascular patients as these heal better.

3. Oedema.

4. Bony prominences.

5. Tendernes.

6. Sensation.

7. Power.

8. Contractures.

9. Examine the opposite side!
