AMBULATION AIDS-WALKER

From NeuroRehab.wiki

SUMMARY

1. Place the front of the walker 12' in front (the walker should partially surround the patient).

2. Determine the proper height by having the patient stand upright with the shoulders relaxed and the elbows flexed 20o.

3. A walker necessitates a slow gait, useful for hemiplegic & ataxic patients.

4. Wheels can be added to the front to facilitate movement for those who lack coordination in the UL.
