SUMMARY

1. Ashworth Scale measures tone while the Tardieu Scale actually measures spasticity.

2. The Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) is a widely used qualitative scale for the assessment of the tone component of spasticity. 0: no spasticity; 1: catch & release; 1+: catch & resistance; 2: < 50% resistance; 3: > 50% resistance (passive movement is difficult); 4: rigidity.
