GREATER OCCIPITAL NERVE-ANATOMY

SUMMARY

1. Arises from fibers of the dorsal primary ramus of the second cervical & third cervical nerve.

2. The greater occipital nerve the fascia just below the superior nuchal ridge along with the occipital artery:

3. It supplies the medial portion of the posterior scalp as far anterior as the vertex.
