SUMMARY


1. Origin - L1.
2. Sensory supply - skin over inguinal region & anterior scrotum/labia.
3. Motor supply - internal oblique & transversus abdominis of the roof of the inguinal canal (tightens the conjoint tendon and lowers the roof of the canal, like a shutter. Damage to the nerve can lead to direct inguinal hernia).
