SUMMARY

1. This is a universal problem in spina bifida, most common cause of deterioration in mobility.

2. Hence the question is not if you have tethering, is it causing problems?

3. Features: LMN symptoms, back pain, bladder dysfunction, calf muscle atrophy, sensory loss, progressive scoliosis, worsening foot deformity, deterioration in renal function.

4. No urgency for detethering so you can monitor progress over 6-12 months.
