SUMMARY

1. Care coordination: Spina Bifida Adult Resource Team (SBART) in NSW. Especially critical for patients with hydrocephalus.

2. Planned transitional care: from children to adults.

3. Encourage self management & physical activity.

4. Annual renal tract US, screen for chronic diseases (HTN, DM, hyperlipidemia).

5. Periodic review: BP monitoring, weight, shunt, sleep apnoea, pain, bowel/bladder, skin integrity, lymphedema, equipment needs.

6. Family planning: females don't have issues but males may have dysfunctional sperm.

7. Neuropsychology assessment: many lack insight due to executive dysfunction, behavioral problems.
