SUMMARY

1. Often does not fit UMN/LMN patterns.

2. Risks of neurogenic bladder: reflux nephropathy, recurrent UTIs, renal calculus.

3. Bowel incontinence: 60-70% incidence.

4. Deterioration in bowel & bladder function can be due to shunt malfunction, tethering or syrinx.

5. Annual renal tract US: hydronephrosis, hydroureter, calculi, trabeculated or thickened bladder, bladder capacity and PVR.

6. Urodynamic studies to assess bladder filling pressures and DSD.
