SPASTICITY-MANAGEMENT ALGORITHM

SUMMARY
1. Assess for noxious stimuli (pain), infections (UTI, pressure sores), constipation, HO, syringomyelia.
2. History & physical examination: focus on assessing goals, severity of spasticity (using Tardeau or Modified Ashworth scale), muscles involved.
3. Treat above etiological factors.
4. Spasticity treatment options represent a continuum of care (conservative → surgical).
