SUMMARY

1. May assist in standing, transfers, ambulation.

2. Helps prevent DVT.

3. May prevent osteoporosis.

4. May assist in maintaining muscle bulk.

5. Can serve as a diagnostic tool. Spasticity can be a sign of exposure to a noxious stimuli: infection, bowel impaction, urinary retention.

Tip: ask yourself, is the spasticity a problem?
