SUMMARY

VACUUM ASSISTED CLOSURE
1. Open-cell foam packed into wound, sealed with a water-proof dressing, attached to a suction catheter which is connected to a suction device.

2. The device applies negative pressure of 125mmHg below ambient pressure.

3. Purpose is to increase clearance of bacteria and debris from the wound, increases blood flow to the wound, increase oxygen and nutrition delivery to the wound.

4. Indicated for deep wounds with heavy exudate.
