SUMMARY

1. Patient factors: alcoholism, depression/dementia, PVD, DM, immunocompromise, connective tissue disease, heart failure, renal failure, liver failure, anemia.

2. Local factors: improper pressure mattress/bed overlay, cushioning, lack of repositioning.

3. Drugs: use of steroids, immune-modulators or chemotherapy drugs, methotrexate, etc.
