SUMMARY

1. Indication: neuropathic & nociceptive pain. Greatest evidence: for failed back syndrome (FBSS).

2. This is performed by placing specialized electrode leads into the epidural space, over the area of dorsal columns.

3. Mechanism of action: thought to act via the gate control mechanism (in theory).
