SUMMARY

1. Activity scheduling: spreading activities throughout the day with regular breaks.

2. Pacing uses a "time-contingent" approach rather than a "pain-contingent" approach.

3. Find a baseline for activity without pain flare.

4. Start low and build up slow with 10-20% increases.

5. This builds confidence and tolerance. Give a written plan for flare-up management.
