NEUROPATHIC PAIN-SNRI
SUMMARY
1. Mirtazepine: potent α2-adrenergic, 5-HT2 & 5-HT3 receptor antagonist and an enhancer of norepinephrine and serotonin neurotransmission. Uses: enhance the efficacy of SSRIs, enhances sleep.
2. Venlafaxine: potent dual reuptake inhibitor of serotonin (at lower doses) and of norepinephrine and possibly dopamine (at higher doses). Uses: antidepressant, anaglesic for neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia.
3. Duloxetine: potent balanced reuptake inhibitor of both serotonin and norepinephrine. Uses: antidepressant, anaglesic for diabetic peripheral neuropathy, fibromyalgia.
