SUMMARY

1. Altered gait: increased muscle activity & energy consumption.

2. Low back pain and degenerative disorders of the spine & scoliosis.

3. Altered biomechanics leading to increased stress on contralateral leg with increased risk of OA.

4. Increased risk of stress fractures of the tibia, metatarsals and femur (73% in the long leg).
