SUMMARY

1. STANCE PHASE: 60% of gait cycle.

2. SWING PHASE: 40% of gait cycle.

3. Double limb support comprises of 20-25% of the normal gait cycle. As speed increases, this decreases until running where there is no double limb support.

4. Heel rise of the trailing limb during double limb support is the greatest determinant of vertical displacement of the centre of gravity.
