SUMMARY

Maximum activity of muscles during phases of the gait cycle:
1. Heel strike: pretibial muscles (eccentric)

2. Foot flat
3. Midstance: gluteus medius (eccentric)
4. Heel off: iliopsoas & calf muscles (concentric)
5. Toe off: calf muscles (concentric)
6. Acceleration: iliopsoas (concentric)
7. Mid swing: iliopsoas (concentric)
8. Deceleration: hamstrings (eccentric)
