SUMMARY

1. Gait: functions to move the centre of gravity of the body through space.

2. Gait cycle: basic unit of gait, defined from one foot strike to repeat the same foot strike.

3. Stride length: distance between sequential corresponding points of contact of the same foot during gait.

4. Step length: distance between sequential corresponding points of contact by opposite feet during gait.

5. Cadence: number of steps per unit time.

6. Gait speed: cadence * step length.
