SUMMARY

Framework for discussing prognosis:
1. Prognostic indicators: discuss all prognostic factors pertaining to the disease
2. Time post injury: when was the prediction made? When will the outcome be reassessed?

3. Outcome of interest: consider what is important to the patient & family. Is it survival or functional independence?
4. Explain that there are degrees of uncertainty, and ot comes can vary widely
