GOALS
1. Physical conditioning.
2. Risk factor modification.
BENEFITS
1. Increased functional capacity: VO2 max.
2. Decreased exercise heart rate.
3. Decreased systolic pressure.
4. Increased left ventricular function (in some patients).
5. Increased insulin sensitivity & lowered insulin requirements by 20%
6. Overall reduction in mortality rate by 20%
