SUMMARY
1. The greatest improvement occurs in the first 2 to 3 months after the onset.
2. Recovery plateaus after 6 months.
3. In the majority of cases, spontaneous recovery does not occur after 1 year. However, there are anecdotal reports of improvements many years after stroke in patients undergoing therapy.
