SUMMARY

1. Cognitive function: patient should be able to understand and learn tasks such as gait training and safety. If the patient is not capable, she would require a caregiver to compensate.

2. Language barriers: can the patient understand instructions in English or require an interpreter?

3. Attitude and motivation: important for prosthetic use, training, care and safety.

4. Address depression & anxiety assoc. with amputation.
