SUMMARY

1. PVD amputees have 45-65% of predicted VO2 max.

2. Aerobic fitness is not enhanced during rehabilitation.

3. 18% increase in peak mechanical output.

4. More emphasis should be placed on aerobic fitness & core strengthening.

5. The brain is more receptive to reorganization during the early phase, commence exercises before prosthetic fitting.
