SUMMARY

1. Posterior brim: high as possible to allow for maximum contact, but not too high that it impinges on the hamstrings & prevents flexion of the knees, rounded brim to not dig into the knees.

2. Sagittal section: contains a patellar shelf.

3. Anterior border: phlanges at mid-patellar level, triangular shape.

4. Alignment: ideal alignment allows the quads & hamstrings to rest and minimizes tension on ligaments.

5. Height: start off at the same height as the normal leg.
